A quick and easy way to check your Healey for "tired" springs is to measure the distance from ground level to the top of wheel arch as shown. This distance is 28 ½" for BJ-8's and 27 ½" for any other Healey. Insure that the car is on level ground, properly loaded, with correct tire pressure and tire size if you get a reading that's either too low or too high, check the diagonal tire for confirmation. That is, the weight transfer occurs diagonally, so that if the right rear is low, the left front should be high. If your readings differ from the above by an inch or more, you've probably got tired springs and replacement is recommended.
