Antique
furniture sometimes is divided into three classes: There is museum quality furniture,
which is acquired, preserved and displayed for its historical value - a tangible
piece of another time. Then there is collector quality furniture, which is certifiably
antique, but which is frequently stripped, refinished, and restored using original
methods and materials. Its value is in presenting what the furniture would have
looked like when it was first in use. Finally, there are reproductions - frequently
of very high quality and craftsmanship, such as Williamsburg
reproductions - that are made so that people who value the original style may have
access to it and integrate it into their everyday lives.
These
concepts, believe it or not, are relevant to comments
made by Rudi Mark! in a "Backfire" column published in the March 1993
Chatter. I agree with Rudi concerning the value of original, un-restored cars. Without
these cars as reference points, there is no way that we can be sure of how the cars
were originally produced - finishes, materials, brands, shapes, and methods of installation
- when we seek to bring other cars back to their original condition in restoration.

You don’t want to miss the many events that we have planned for you. A close up tour of Mt. St. Helens, a stearnwheeler cruse on the Great Columbia River, tours of Fort Vancouver as well as many other activities in the area.
Cascade Healey Club is hosting the Rendezvous 11 in Vancouver Washington, June 27th through July 1st 2011, and we have some great things in store for you. One of the favorite events is the Auction, and the main ingredient in the auction is the wide and wonderful variety of items that are available to bid on.
Historical memorabilia, print items, Healey parts and accessories, gift certificates from our favorite vendors, and the very popular custom made- one of a kind crafts that reflect our love for these cars.
Laurie and I want to make this auction the very best for you, so here is your chance to get creative and find or make something for the event.
Pull one of those Healey heirloom piese out and share it! Get into the sewing room and create one of your specialties. Recycle some of your good Healey spare parts. Solicit an item from your place of business.
Remember, besides the fun of seeing your item on display during the week, the proceeds go to help pay for the club`s expenses in putting on the meet for you.
It`s so true; if you get involved, you will enjoy the auction even more! Please contact Steve and Laurie Day at
